Compost Site

Please be advised that the Compost Site is currently open for the purpose of accepting real Christmas trees. The site will continue to accept such trees until January 5th, subject to weather conditions and other relevant factors.

The management and operation of the Compost Site, located west of the trailhead park, along the county bike path adjacent to the city's wastewater treatment plant, is the responsibility of the City of Shafer. This service is offered free of charge exclusively to Shafer residents. The site is open from dusk to dawn, typically operating from April to December, contingent upon prevailing weather conditions. The Compost Site solely accepts yard waste and tree branches with a diameter of up to three inches.

We kindly request that the following rules be observed. This free service is offered exclusively to Shafer residents, and any infractions will attract penalties and affect the rules for everyone.
